For those who attended this great event, John suggests some readings to follow up: two chapters on the slogan about Drive All Blames into One. One is by Traleg Rinpoche from his book The Practice of Lojong and the other is in Pema Chodron's book Start Where You Are.

Hi, we had a great sensual time with Louise tonight- here is the information about her upcoming teaching gig in NYC, next Sunday, Dec 12 during the daytime.

A DAY OF SENSORY AWARENESS
WITH LOUISE BOEDEKER

FIDELITY TO THE MOMENT:
Being Present For Yourself and Others

Often, habitual and conditioned attitudes become embedded in our tissues as physical tensions, preventing our innate capacity for direct, immediate experience to fulfill itself. In Sensory Awareness, we learn to recognize these handicapping tensions/conditionings, allowing them to subside, and thus regain our essential capacity for balance and harmony in both our inner and outer relationships.

In our work, we attend to our experience of quiet, basic movements, for example, how breathing comes and goes as we sit, stand or lie. We learn how we prepare to move, how we interact with the physical support of the floor or a chair, where energy develops in us, and our response to the influence of gravity. Sometimes we work with partners, a subtle working together that can reveal how we communicate nonverbally. For example, I may sense my partner’s breathing by gently placing my hands on his or her back. My partner can notice any response to my touch, and the effect on breathing, posture or attitude.

We learn to experience – with awareness – what happens in us in each moment, as we move, breathe, carry out our daily tasks, and interact with the universe. This practice then moves with us beyond the classroom into our daily lives, we become more awake and responsive, and we can find more joy in everyday happenings.

Louise has a PhD in Education and Anthropology. She was so profoundly influenced by the practice of Sensory Awareness as expressed by Charlotte Selver that she gave up her tenured teaching position to devote herself to the work.

WHEN: Sunday, December 12th, 2010
10:15am to 12:15pm (Break) then 1:45pm to 3:45pm
